Implementation strategies

When it comes to implementing a learning platform, what one thing do you know now, that you wish you had known 12 months ago?

Re: Implementation strategies

Make sure it is personalised for the school and get the head teacher involved. We tried this but Head teachers didn't really want to know in most cases. We now run a training course for Head teachers and SMT - giving them a strategic overview and practical hands on - they leave the session with a greater understanding and not so afraid. Comment come back like - 'I wish we had done this years ago', 'this is great I can't wait to get going'

The training is free and we have called it 'Learning Platform - a must have technology for the 21st Century' We also encourage the Head teacher to bring somebody with them - usually the ICT subject leader which helps with reducing the fear factor!!!

Re: Implementation strategies
I am proud to say our implementation has gone to plan and worked well. The only thing I would have liked to realise 12 months ago was that not everyone is enthusiastic about the LP! When I realised how good it was, and what a benefit to my FS children, I immediately presumed (wrongly) that everyone would see the benefits and be willing to take it on board. Children were as enthusiastic as I was , where as staff have been harder to inspire! I learned not to take things personally!!!!!
