In February a group of 50 schools were invited to share their experiences in using learning platforms. The delegates were nominated by local authorities, RBCs, SSAT or providers of learning platforms because they were viewed as being particularly effective in their use of technology.

The aim of the event was to begin to establish some of the benefits and outcomes for learning, teaching or management that effective use of technology can bring and to agree essential steps when deciding to deploy a learning platform in school. Two strong messages come from this report of the event: 1. The delegates clearly identified three essential steps for success - a) Ensure the involvement of the Senior Leadership Team b) Know what you want the technology to do for you c) Provide appropriate training and support for staff 2. From the small group of delegates there are a diverse and encouraging set of outcomes and benefits. These have not been analysed in detail or externally verified but clearly indicate that it is worth exploring and sharing these further.
